Through the Flower Art Space has a dedicated crew of volunteers, without whom, we could not continue to provide the dynamic programs and experiences we are committed to offering. We have a range of opportunities based on individual volunteer's interests and availability. Read below for descriptions of these opportunities and to sign up to become a part of the Through the Flower volunteer community.
Description and tasks:
Docents will be required to attend a training session prior to starting volunteer work. Volunteers will be notified by email of the training session schedule as it becomes available. Tours are offered daily, Thursday through Saturday from 12 pm until 5 pm, or may be scheduled on alternative days and times by special appointment with advanced notice. Docents will be required to be informed about the history of Judy Chicago and Donald Woodman’s lives in New Mexico, as well as, knowledgeable about the work and careers of both Judy Chicago and Donald Woodman. Information will be made available at the required training session prior to starting as a docent. As new exhibitions are mounted in the Art Space, docents will attend additional informational sessions to become knowledgeable about the artists and works in the exhibitions. Docents should enjoy working with the public, have a pleasant demeanor, and be able to answer visitor questions. Docents will also be required to engage with visitors for sales transactions, monitor the cash register, log sales at the end of each business day, restock inventory when needed, note when products need to be re-ordered, and insure the Art Space is clean and well maintained. Volunteers should be available for a full shift during business hours.
