Through the Flower will accept all donations to our dedicated relief fund, 100% of which will be given to the Grief and Hope fund in partnership with The Brick to provide immediate aid, resources, and recovery efforts for artists and art workers impacted by the fires.

Learn more about the Grief and Hope fund:

Over the last few days, we have watched as neighborhoods that are home to many of Los Angeles’ artists, gallerists, and cultural workers burn to the ground in an unprecedented Santa Ana wind and fire event. Many members of our personal communities, and our broader creative communities, have lost everything. The ramifications of that impact are varied: some people will be able to start over with preexisting support structures, while others may not have the same access to insurance coverage or other resources.

Our initial, urgent goal is to raise $1,00,000 to be distributed to artists and art workers who have lost their home and / or studio as a result of the Eaton, Palisades, Sunset, and other fires in the Los Angeles area. We know many of you want to direct support to members of our community, and are looking for guidance about who needs help, and how much, so that you can make a direct impact.

To achieve our goal, we are gathering information, and we have built out a brief pair of surveys. One survey is to assess the most urgent needs of artists and art workers affected by the fires. Our other survey collects information regarding mutual aid.

To the best of our ability, we will match funds and other contributions in order of greatest need with those impacted by the Eaton, Palisades, and Sunset fires.

The Brick, as a 501(c)(3), has guidelines to follow in making grants to individuals, which will include a simple follow-up application, minimal vetting process, and a standard grantee agreement.
