    Mission

Through the Flower highlights women’s achievements and empowers, educates, and inspires social change through art.

    Who We Are

Founded October 31, 1977, Through the Flower has highlighted women’s achievements for over 40 years. Through the Flower continues the legacy built by Judy Chicago’s career and vision to counter the erasure of women in history through education, exhibition, and preservation.

The History of Through the Flower

Through the Flower was founded by Judy Chicago in 1977 as a 501(c)3 non- profit organization to manage the overwhelming public support of The Dinner Party (1974-1979). Since its inception, Through the Flower’s activities have focused on education and continues to engage in numerous initiatives aimed at providing opportunities for learning about women’s history through art.

Thank you to our many supporters who, through giving their time, expertise, and donations, helped us to open the Through the Flower Art Space.

Through the Flower is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the New Mexico Humanities Council.

We welcome donations of any size, even if it’s your valuable time!
